John Roberts is a superior litigator. However he knows little of The Law.

Just because it's on his desk, doesn't mean he was inattentive during the hearing itself. There's often a lot of downtime during these things, and I'd sure have a book or something.
I'm not gonna condemn Coburn based on this photo alone.
